Notice
- For most of the notes marked staccato, "." (bars 6, 8, & 9) the string is actually being slightly muted by the other fingers of the left hand, to create a sort of palm-muting effect.
- In instances where you must slap one string twice (or three times) in quick succession, you should 'double-slap' with your thumb. This technique involves bringing the thumb through the string as you hit it, to momentarily rest on the next string, before quickly bouncing it back upwards. (eg. some of the muted notes in bars 3, 10, & 11)
- The hardest thing about this piece is not just playing the notes right, but I find it very difficult to replicate Marcus' unique slap style. I can't exactly give any tips for this, except to just make sure you're playing is very accurate, in time, no sloppy techniques etc. Good luck!
