Here it is. This is what makes country, COUNTRY in my mind. Nothing like the sound of twin fiddles and a steel guitar to take you back home. This song may possibly feature the best steel guitar and twin fiddle intro of all time. This is yet another number one hit from King George. It was featured on the album of the same name which also debuted at number 1 on Billboard in its 1987 release.
I thought anyone who knows George Strait's music loves this song so I decided to tab it out for all the fans. For the longest time I wished this song would be transcribed with all the steel guitar fills and fiddle play, but to this day I haven't seen one. I finally picked up "The Best of George Strait" piano and guitar book awhile back and found alot of the stuff I'd been looking for. Naturally these books don't have tablature but they do have notes and thankfully I can read most of em. So what I found in there is what I'm giving to you. I hope you enjoy.
The basic rhythm of the sound is fairly hard to hear but it is detectable. So with the help of a LIVE cut from "Austin City Limits" I was able to pick up the strumming. The notes which make up the piano were used to transcribe the steel guitar and fiddle intro as well as the "Instrumental Interlude." There is a muted electric guitar which appregiates the chords during the verse. Seeing Rick McRae (lead guitarist, Ace In The Hole) picking this out on "Austin City Limits" made it easier to identify. I added a shamisen to the MIDI to give it a better sound if anybody was wondering. Unfortunately I wasn't able to tab out the fiddle parts that are played during the verses following the interlude. If anyone may know how to play them just send me you ideas and I'll be happen to add them.
