Notice
This song fades in at about 5:20 on track 13 of Mary Star of the Sea, and is composed of a long quiet instrumental interlude and then the song itself, which is Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain rock histronics up the yip ya.
Instrumental Section (5:20 - 8:23):
- The key to Pajo's part (Gtr. 1) is that it begins with an irregular repeated pattern of 7 notes. This switches to a 9 note repeated pattern which ends up a 12 note repeated pattern. The changes are marked in the transcription.
- Sweeny's part (Gtr. 2) is essentially two repeated melodies. The first one is played 2 times, and the second is played 5 times with a tag that goes into the clean guitar introduction.
- Corgan's part (Gtr. 3) hovers over a modified A scale. I didn't go to Berkelee, so i couldnt tell you what it's called. Just memorize the box pattern and the arrepeggios on the end.
-------------------
Rest of the song (8:23 - 14:04):
-The rest of the song is essentially two parts, Billy's melody lines, and Pajo's more off-centre melody lines that are further back in the mix. Billy's parts are doubled, and panned hard left and hard right, and differ from eachother only in two sections, which are marked in the transcription. I chose to transcribe only the left channel for purposes of clarity, and because it was easier to hear what was going on.
-You will need a wah pedal for the second interlude onward.
-There is a minor playback issue in measure 102.
-In transcribing this song, i referenced several live FM performance, along with the Mary Star DVD (for billy's general positioning).
-During the instrumental part, the bass also has a repeated pattern. The rest merely provides a root for Corgan and Pajo's parts.
