I've been told that this track doesn't actually appear on
all versions of Out Of Exile. This is a great shame, as it's
a wonderful version of - in my opinion - their best song.
Appearing at the end of Out of Exile, it is a Like A Stone
redux, this time with Chris Cornell doing an "unplugged"
version, so to speak.
I'm not too good with chords (perhaps it wasn't the best
idea for me to tab a song made exclusively of chords?),
so I'm not sure how much of this is correct. Although I
think I've nailed the majority of 7ths and minors and all
My tabbing of strumming rhythm is also a little bit
simplistic, so apologies there. Listen to the track - if you
have it - for all the ins and outs of Chris's strumming.
I've done a slightly shoddy transcription of the vocals,
since Chris adopted a much more jazz-like style of
singing here. It's damn near impossible to capture all of
the pauses, note-bends and note durations that Chris
improvised, but I've had a good crack at it.
Bear in mind that some of the vocals ARE sung
differently to the original, so some of this may sound
odd. There is even a one line lyric change in the bridge,
which I can't point out for copyright reasons.
The song is two steps higher than the original version,
which led to further confusion. I chose to tab the
chords, lower it down two steps, treat it like the original,
then bring it back up, as indicated by the weird tuning
on the vocal track.
For effect, I tried to include the cheering from the
audience in the appropriate places. Feel free to mute
this if it annoys you. For further realism, I even made an
awful attempt to tab his "thank you very much" at the
end. Keep an eye out for that ;)
All things considered, please be kind if you rate this!
